Pamela Elrod Huffman

Pamela Elrod Huffman is an associate professor of music and has served as the director of choral activities at SMU since joining the faculty in 2007. With over 40 years of conducting and teaching experience, she oversees the master's program in choral conducting and directs the University's choral ensembles. Huffman holds bachelor's and master's degrees in music from the University of Texas at Austin and a D.M.A. in choral conducting from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. An accomplished vocalist, Huffman sang with the late Robert Shaw from 1988 until 1999, performing and recording with the Robert Shaw Festival Singers, the Robert Shaw Choral Institutes, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus and the Atlanta Symphony Chamber Chorus. From 2003 to 2018, she was a member of the Grammy Award-winning professional choral ensemble Conspirare under the direction of Craig Hella Johnson. She retires as professor emeritus of music.
